It is week 2 of 2013. I hope you all are doing better than we are here at my end of things. We would up ringing in the New Year with the dreaded stomach bug. YUCK! Hopefully this is our one big bought for the year, and I will soon be able to celebrate my birthday with my family and friends (a bit delayed but still worthy!).
Yep, you heard it, a birthday. Almost a big one , in 364 days I will be the dreaded 4-0. To celebrate I am offering YOU ALL a birthday gift! That is right, a present for YOU in honor of MY birthday. The first 39 orders before January 13 will receive a FREE GIFT with their purchase. I promise, it will be something special that will make you smile! 🙂
In the meantime, lets get a start on our next scavenger hunt! Last week was so much fun, what will we be able to find this week? Remember, in order to be entered into the monthly drawing you MUST comment on this post with your guess. Happy hunting!
For those of you who have been visiting regularly, you have seen the Mystery Kits. As no one ever ordered a kit to play along I have decided that a 6 month run was a good attempt. So, in the New Year say ‘Goodbye’ to the Mystery Kit Contest.
Does that mean there will be no contests? Nope, we’ll try something new, different, exciting, ENERGIZING! and even more importantly FREE STUFF!! Who doesn’t like free stuff? So, here is what I have in mind…….We’ll have a scavenger hunt! You will find a link posted on this blog that will lead you to another site. It could be a scrapbook site, it could be a craft site, it could be something on Pinterest, maybe even a gardening site, who knows??? That link will show how an item available from Home and Garden Welcome could be used. All you have to do is find that product, and come back here and comment with what that item is. No purchase necessary!!!
We will do this scavenger hunt once weekly. All those who have correctly found the product/item will be entered into a drawing for a FREE GIFT! The drawing will be held monthly, and at this time next year everyone who answered correctly will be entered into a GRAND PRIZE drawing! I don’t yet know what that drawing will be, but I promise you it will be GRAND! So, with no further ado, I’d like to send you on your first ‘hunt’.
I have had the (mis?)fortunate opportunity to write a few business plans over the course of the years, some have been praised greatly by people in the business world. When I was asked to review Jennifer Lee’s book “The Right-Brain Business Plan” for the Things Crafty Design Team I was a little skeptical. My previous experience with writing business plans has been far from enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised by the process created in Jennifer’s book and decided to work through a business plan with the help of the tools provided in “The Right Brain Business Plan” as well as the support provided on the internet.
This book is a fabulous tool for those who are wondering if they should start a business centering on their craft. It makes you think about who you are, what you want out of starting your own business, identifying your market and all of those other intangible aspects most creative people don’t want to really consider. And it does so in a way that is fun and engaging.
Hey everyone, I am just checking out what you would most like to see sold from Home and Garden Welcome. Below are some examples of the types of products I am considering. Please choose as many as you would like to see.
Pre-designed page kits or Pre-assembeled page kits
It is bound to happen to the best of us. I’ve hit a creative wall so I need help from all my friends and followers. And in exchange for your help I have a special gift for a special person.
Who is that special person? I guess we will just have to play along to find out! So how do you play? You ask….Here is how.
Visit Home and Garden Welcome and pick out 3 items from all the amazing crafting and gardening supplies. Return here and post a comment listing your items and why you choose them. Once we have 20 people who have commented I will choose one and create something from the items listed in your comment. Once this item is created the SPECIAL PERSON who gave me the idea will WIN that handmade art piece in addition to a $25 gift certificate to purchase supplies to create your own masterpiece.
Amazing! Free art and free money! Invite your friends and family, browse all the wonderful garden, scrapbook and craft supplies available from Home and Garden Welcome and give me some ideas to break through my creative wall.
Well, it is fact that I have been running like a chicken with his head cut off (and believe me, it really does happen if you have never seen it happen before!). I have had little time to do any crafting, and even less time for my garden. Especially since I’ve discovered that deer saliva judiciously applied to your vegetable plants is NOT a fool proof way to increase your harvest. It does, however, increase the yield of deer excrement that can be found amongst your few remaining leaflets.
While I have been thinly spreading my time between substituting in a kindergarten classroom (much like attempting to herd cats), commitments regarding the school board, catechism class for the kids and soccer practice and games the other design team members have been busily planning a HUGE LAUNCH PARTY over at Things Crafty.
Look for new TV episodes, tutorials, great giveaways, and lots of inspiration and more!
Mark you calendars for this Tuesday’s huge lineup of Tuesday Schmoozeday broadcasts leading up to the launch party scheduled for Friday Sept 21st! Look for Link Up parties, Mixed Media tutorials, weekly giveaways and more as you find inspiration and support from such an amazing crafting community.
Wow, what a few days! Alot can happen in a short amount of time.
First off, at Home and Garden Welcome we introduced some new guest designers for the Home and Garden Welcome Mystery Kit. In case you missed the post, get to know the new designers here.
Secondly, I have given myself a challenge. I have begun a new blog called My Creative Chaotic Life. There I will be creating a piece of art over the course of the year. Each week for 52 weeks I will add something to my canvas that reflects the events that are important. I have an art journal I will also share with you from time to time. In that journal I will be trying different techniques before I try them on my final project. Some will be successful, some will utterly fail but I will push myself to try new techniques, and combine with the old techniques I’ve come to depend on.
Here is an example of my recent art journal trial. I will be posting the first week’s addition soon. I invite you all to watch as this piece of art develops and if you feel inspired I challenge you to start your own journey as well!
And finally, I have been invited to join the Things Crafty design team! Check out the site and find wonderful inspiration, ideas for new projects and a fabulous team of artists ready to help you further your craft. Come on over and check things out!
It sure is amazing how things develop, just further confirmation in my belief that there is a plan for everyone and regardless of what you try to do otherwise God will certainly find a way to get you where you belong.
